			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Triglyceride are fatty acids that have a 3 carbon backbone that attaches fatty acid molecules.  <strong>They easily convert into fat accumulation if not metabolized for energy.</strong> They are most frequently a problem from over-consumption of sugar.  They can also come from consumption of too much fat, but generally the culprit is too much sugar.</p>
<p>The sugar compound, both sucrose (table sugar) and HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), contain glucose and fructose molecules.  Glucose is a chief energy source for the production of ATP (the cellular fuel).</p>
<p><strong>Unfortunately the glucose must immediately be used; or if abundant, it will be stored as fatty acid triglycerides.</strong> These end up in fat beds, especially abdominal ones.  A study was  reported in the<em> American Journal of Clinical Nutrition</em> in 2005 and referenced by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D. These triglycerides increase heart disease and cardiovascular problems.</p>
<p><strong>Long chain fatty acids (triglycerides) are known to greatly increase with the consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates.  These high levels of triglycerides are a risk factor in coronary heart disease.</strong> Too many triglycerides cause inflammation that leads to ischemia, i.e. insufficient blood flow and low oxygenation for heart muscle.</p>
<p><strong>The risk increase, in the study followed by alternatives doctor Russell Blaylock, was 260%.</strong> When triglyceride levels were high the good (HDL) cholesterol diminished and this increased ischemic heart disease; it skyrocketed by more than two and a half times.<br />
Often, prevailing thinking is that eating carbohydrates are better than fats to prevent fat deposits and weight gain.  Wrong!</p>
<p><strong>Why would easily burned carbohydrates produce fat accumulation?</strong> The real problem is the amount of carbohydrates consumed. It is true that carbohydrates are readily converted to energy and easily burned.  The amount of carbohydrates is the problem because <strong>the body has little capacity to store carbohydrates.</strong> The body does not like excess glucose (the carbohydrate energy) and does not like it circulating in the blood.</p>
<p>When high levels of carbohydrates (now glucose) are in the blood they trigger the release of insulin.  Insulin is absolutely necessary for the metabolism of glucose into energy within every cell in your body.  There are insulin receptors in cells that are doorways that let the glucose inside to be converted into cellular energy.</p>
<p><strong>The problem is when higher levels of insulin are present in the blood. With more blood insulin present, cellular resistance to insulin develops. Insulin is necessary to metabolize glucose. If this condition persists long enough the typical result is diabetes II. There is plenty of insulin but it is not assimilated by the cells, due to cellular resistance.  So, what does the body do with the extra glucose in the blood that cannot be burned?</strong></p>
<p><strong>It is converted into triglycerides, which are fatty acids.  What happens to the triglycerides when they become excessive?  They become stored into fat beds in the form of fat, especially belly fat.</strong></p>
<p>In the equation of triglyceride activity, omega 3 essential fatty acids and trans fats are huge factors.</p>
<p><strong>The essential omega3’s are disarmed by trans fats,  so more omegas are needed with the consumption of trans fats. This means that there is an increase in triglycerides, C reactive protein and interleukin… which are all inflammatory high risk factors for cardiovascular disease as well as other problems. (note: Trans fats are hydrogenated fats like shortening and margarine.  They are foreign substances to your body.)</strong></p>
<p><strong>What the omega 3’s do is greatly reduce triglycerides, raise good (HDL) cholesterol and decrease the bad (LDL) cholesterol. High levels of omega 6 are detrimental.  By sabotaging omega 3′s, the metabolization of fats is compromised and the fatty acid triglycerides increase… fueling fat accumulation and cardiovascular disease.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Omega 3 fats, found in deep sea fish and Arctic Krill oil, are shown in thousands of studies to reduce fatal heart attack by as much as 50%</strong>, if fish is eaten one time a week…according to <em>Bottom Line Health</em> Books.  Multiple servings per week can reduce the risk by as much as 70%.</p>
<p><strong>Why are good fats like those in fish, Krill oil, olive oil and flax oil so good for the heart?</strong> Your body need fats for energy production.  A normal body gets 75% of its energy from fats.  Omega 3 and omega 6  fatty acids and triglycerides are good primary sources.</p>
<p>Given the typical diet of too much trans fats and low omega 3’s found in Western nations, it is enormously beneficial to supplement with omega 3’s…Denis Van Loan D.D.S.</p>
