At least one study showed that after age 75 you live longer with high cholesterol. William Campbell Douglass, M.D. says:  “A review of medical studies on cholesterol and mortality in heart patients found that lowering cholesterol levels led to death—not survival, like the drug companies want you to think.”

Numerous quality studies show there is muscle weakness and pain in two thirds of those on a cholesterol lowering drug. Board certified cardiologist Stephen Sinatra, M.D. says 70% of the patients he sees who are on cholesterol lowering (statin) drug have this problem with muscle weakness and pain.   Permanent muscle damage is shown after less than one year.

It is also well documented twice the heart failure rate is occurring for those taking a statin drug, unless supplemented with the co-enzyme, CoQ-10.

You see, cholesterol (statin) drugs not only reduce the manufacture of cholesterol by your liver but they also take out a critical energy enzyme, CoQ-10.

With a lack of energy in all cells, especially heart muscle, it means exhaustion and organ failure.

The body manufactures 75% of your cholesterol because it is necessary in all cell walls.  It is the core molecule that forms vitamin D.  It is the core molecule for the steroidal hormones, testosterone, estrogens, cortisol and many others.  It is important to brain tissue.

Cognitive decline is well documented in studies that follow statin drug users. This should not be surprising since much of the brain tissue consists of cholesterol.

Why is mainstream medicine so convinced that lowering cholesterol is a good idea? It all started when high cholesterol content was found in atherosclerosis.  Atherosclerosis is the plaque that lines arteries and is proven to be a risk factor in cardiovascular disease; it increases heart attack and stroke.

The reasoning that lowering cholesterol would reduce heart attack and stroke is flawed. It is blood and artery inflammation, with oxidation of LDL cholesterol, which then attaches to the artery linings and produces atherosclerosis.

A huge study demonstrated that half of those with heart attack and stroke had “normal” cholesterol (150 to 200). Without oxidized LDL cholesterol you can have 300 or higher cholesterol and be quite healthy.  (Also many who die of heart attacks do not even have atherosclerosis and plugged arteries.)
