			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Cardiologist, nutritionist, author and researcher, Stephen Sinatra, M.D. reports about going barefoot in his February 2010 newsletter, <em>Heart Health &amp; Nutrition.</em></strong> <strong>Far fetched as it may seem, high blood pressure and blood clotting can be related to going barefoot.  In what way, you ask?</strong></p>
<p><strong>Electrical engineers tell us the earth&#8217;s surface pulsates with negatively charged, free electrons.</strong> <strong>When a person goes barefoot or sleeps on a grounded mattress, the needed electrons can flow into the circuitry of your body. </strong></p>
<p>You see, free radicals are positively charged compounds that are in need of negatively charged electrons to balance their deficiency.  <strong>Various free radicals from foods, toxins and environment are the ultimate cause of heart disease, in most cases.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Free radicals are unstable and they steal electrons from weaker (but normal) compounds of your body.</strong> They interfere with your biochemistry.   Free radicals produce inflammation, the mother of all degenerative disease.  <strong>The result of inflammation in the blood greatly increased cardiovascular disease.  This  increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.</strong></p>
<p>When you ground the body by skin contact with the earth&#8217;s surface or by conduit from earth to body (a grounded mattress), needed electrons can flow into your body.  Why is this significant?<strong> This can be a source of needed free electrons that reduce inflammation and neutralize electrical charges.</strong></p>
<p>Studies involving Dr. Sinatra have revealed why grounding your body can be beneficial. <strong> In a small study, virtually all but one (who regularly grounded himself already), it was demonstrated that changes in blood viscosity (a cause of hypertension) and sticking, clumping of red blood cells was significant.</strong></p>
<p><strong></strong><br />
<strong>Blood samples were taken before and after a 40 minute grounding of the subject&#8217;s feet. </strong> <strong>Examination of the before and after grounding with microscopic slides clearly showed less stickiness and clumping of blood cells.</strong></p>
<p>When there is increased viscosity blood pressure rises; when there is stickiness of red blood cells this correlates to increased heart attack and stroke&#8230;in addition to the inflammation from free radicals.</p>
<p><strong>Exactly why increasing the electron availability and less clumping can be explained by the zeta (electrical charge on red blood cells).  In one of the studies that Dr. Sinatra participated in it was found that the zeta became more favorable. It apparently was due to the surface charge changes on the red blood cells. </strong></p>
<p><strong>The microscopic examination revealed that the red blood cells did not stick together and flowed more easily, reducing hypertension and clotting tendency.</strong><br />
<strong>This explains why regular grounding of your body can be beneficial to cardiovascular health.  It suggests grounding can reduce hypertension, heart attack and stroke because it furnishes available electrons. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Nattokinase is a proteolytic enzyme that dissolves protein.  The significance of this is huge for hypertension caused by thick blood. </strong> With age, the clotting matrix increases.  This clot matrix is called fibrin; Nattokinase reduces it.</p>
<p><strong>Increased viscosity raises blood pressure and the incidence of heart attack, stroke, as well as clots in the brain, legs and lungs.</strong> Good scientific studies prove its efficacy and safety.  The biggest negative I find is taste; it is a fermented soy product.<br />
<strong><br />
For centuries the Japanese have eaten Nattokinase and have enjoyed reduced hypertension and the cardiovascular problems associated with it.<br />
</strong><br />
<strong>Some comparison studies show the Japanese as number one in worldwide life spans.  Our own U.S. Census list us as 42nd in longevity, worldwide.</strong> Heart disease is the number one killer in the U.S.A.  High blood pressure,  atherosclerosis  and cardiovascular problems are major contributors to our poor longevity record.</p>
<p><strong>Mainstream medical treatment for thick blood, hypertension, is a drug like Coumadin.  Coumadin likewise reduces clots but can be dangerous if not carefully regulated.</strong> It can cause internal and unstoppable bleeding.  It was originally developed as a rat poison.  Rats would consume it and then bleed to death.</p>
<p>What do scientific studies reveal about Nattokinase?  <em>The True Health Bulletin</em>, 2010, reports a message from Michael Cutler, M.D. on Nattokinase.  He cites <strong>numerous studies that clearly demonstrate the enormous benefits from Nattokinase.  Here are some of them:</strong><br />
1.    A study of 200 healthy males and females were given Nattokinase before breakfast.  Upon examination of the blood plasma, it was found the supplementation with <strong>Nattokinase reduced the dissolution of blood clot time by 48%.</strong><br />
2.    Plasmin is the natural enzyme that balances the level of fibrin in the blood.  Unfortunately as you age the plasmin decreases.  <strong>In a comparative test of plasmin against Nattokinase, Nattokinase was found to be 292% more effective in reducing the fibrin causing high blood pressure. </strong></p>

3.    Patricia Kane, PhD reported a study she conducted on 25 patients taking Nattokinase. She said this: <strong><em>“…patients are reporting more energy, less pain, and clearing of mental confusion in the few days of use.  We’ve already added Nattokinase into our protocol for detoxification of neurologic toxins.”</em></strong><br />
4.    Martin Milner, M.D., professor of cardiology and pulmonary medicine in Portland, Oregon says this: <em> <strong>“In all my years of research as a professor of cardiology and pulmonary medicine, Natto and Nattokinase represent the most exciting development in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular related problems. We’ve finally found a potent natural agent that can help thin and dissolve clots effectively, with relative safety and without side effects.” </strong></em></p>

5. </em> <strong>Jonathan Wright, M.D. says:</strong><em><strong> “The literature about Natto and Natttokinase is very impressive…the first patient I asked to try it had rapid and dramatic response…Nattokinase appears to be a true breakthrough.”</strong></em></p>

<p><strong>Recent studies are demonstrating the health benefits, especially of raw, pure cocoa. </strong> This contains phytonutrients called flavenoids that are good antioxidants.  What this means is they reduce inflammation plus they contain nitric oxide, a substance that dilates and relaxes arteries.  These properties make cocoa a powerful asset in cardiovascular disease.   <strong><br />

<p><strong>The nitric oxide dilation of arteries reduces blood pressure and improves circulation throughout your body.</strong> This  greatly benefits your heart with better nutrient supply and less effort needed to pump blood.</p>
<p><strong>The anti oxidant (inflammation reducing) influence of cocoa is no small matter in heart disease.</strong> Nearly all heart problems that develop come from inflammation.  The accumulation of atherosclerosis (or plaque containing cholesterol and calcium ) is possible only in the presence of inflammation.  Atherosclerosis is a major risk factor in cardiovascular disease, greatly increasing the incidence of heart attack and stroke.</p>
<p><strong>Just how effective and beneficial is chocolate? </strong> It is very beneficial so long as it is not loaded with sugar or additives.  It should be at least 60% cocoa. The sugar and additives are counter productive.</p>
<p>The <em>Karolinska Institute</em> in Stockholm, Sweden conducted an interesting study on chocolate.  <strong>The patients who ate chocolate at least 2 times a week after  experiencing a heart attack decreased their risk of death by 66%</strong>&#8230;as reported by alternatives Dr. Mark Stengler.  A Spanish study also reported significant reduction of inflammation by consumption of chocolate.</p>
<p>Dr. Mark Stengler recommends raw cocoa power in various dishes  even such as meat and chili ones.  He stresses the importance of the <strong>raw, cold-pressed form because it has more than 3 times the anti oxidant flavenols</strong> than that made from roasted cocoa beans.  High sugar content is also believed to cancel some health benefits; because we already consume too much sugar and this only fuels inflammation&#8230;Denis Van Loan D.D.S.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Turmeric, containing cumin and 2 other curcuminoids, is a powerful anti-inflammatory and pain relieving agent.</strong> ( It is the yellow spice found in Southeast Asian food.)  I personally use cumin (in abundant amounts without any perceived detrimental effects) as a pain reliever.  I like it better than any of the over the counter pain reliever drugs. Turmeric also has a broad health benefits as reported in alternative health journals.</p>
<p><strong><em>The Journal of Health</em> reports in vol.3 issue 7 some well researched comprehensive benefits to your health. </strong>Modern research validates turmeric&#8217;s effectiveness, especially in the past 15 years.  Numerous studies and the experience of populations like India that have high dietary intake confirm its benefits.  East Indians have decreased Alzheimer’s, arthritis, and<strong> cardiovascular diseases.</strong> Here are most of the validated health benefits:</p>

<p><strong>The overarching benefit is arguably that of reducing inflammation and free radical damage.  The significance of this is that virtually all diseases have the issue of inflammation&#8230;it is central to disease.</strong></p>

<p><strong>How about cholesterol balance?</strong> First of all it is a well researched and proven fact that <strong>cholesterol is necessary and important for health. </strong> It is needed for proper lipid balance and for the many cortical steroid hormones as well as vitamin D. It is the core molecule for them all.</p>
<p><strong>Studies show that the HDL (high density lipid) cholesterol is very good and should be in high ratio to the LDL (low density lipids).  Curcuminoids do this.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The <em>International Journal of Vitamin Nutritional Research</em> reports this in a small study of 10 people:  A daily dose of 500 mg of curcumin was given and it produced a 29% increase of the good HDL and significantly reduced the level of LDL.</strong> LDL’s are associated with inflammation and increased risk of cardiovascular disease.  While it is not the LDL itself that causes cardiovascular disease, it is the inflammation in the blood vessels that collects the LDL and that causes the disease.</p>
<p><strong>It is the inflamed blood vessels that attract the LDL which co-relates to increased heart attack and stroke.</strong> The LDL acts like a rough bandage that can cause a clot or chip off and cause a blockage in a coronary or cerebral blood vessel.</p>
<p><strong>Aside from helping cardiovascular health by keeping cholesterol healthy, curcumins lower blood pressure.  They function by inhibiting PAF (platelet activating factor).  The PAF reduces clotting tendencies. This decreases the incidence of heart attack and stroke.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The anti-inflammatory power of curcumins is believed to work in two ways.</strong> It is a free radical scavenger that is an anti-oxidant&#8230;directly reducing inflammation.  Secondly, it triggers the release of natural cortisone&#8230;probably the most powerful anti-inflammatory agent known.</p>
<p><strong>More than one study has shown its anti-inflammatory benefits to arthritis sufferers.</strong> In a double blind, placebo controlled study, patients were given 300 mg of curcumin per day.  The joint swelling, stiffness and pain were all reduced.</p>
<p><strong>Inflammation is a major cause of pain.  Pain is the by product of Cox 2 enzymes that produce post glandins.  Curcuminoids were studied at the famous <em>Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center. </em></strong>Their research revealed that indeed that Cox 2 was effectively reduced by curcumins.  Inflammation as well as pain was reduced.</p>
<p><strong>Hundreds of studies clearly demonstrate that inflammation is at the core of cardiovascular disease.
