Coronary Heart Disease Risk Factors
By admin | November 30, 2011
The risk factors for heart disease are numerous but some are more significant than others. Among the most significant are:
- Inflammation in arteries (shown by C-Reactive Protein test): Mainstream medicine wants you to believe that lowering cholesterol is beneficial in prevention of coronary heart disease. Multiple good studies make it clear inflammation and oxidation of LDL cholesterol is the real culprit. The amount of LDL is not really significant. Just as many who are in the normal range of cholesterol have heart attack as those with high cholesterol.
- High blood pressure (hypertension): This is frequently caused by atherosclerosis…a plaque that lines arteries and reduces the lumen size. The blood pressure must be increased to caused blood flow through the restricted arteries.
- Genetics (heredity): There seems to be a correlation of this to those who have heart attacks. However, genetic research is finding that the presence of a bad gene does not automatically put you at risk. The gene must be expressed and toxins and the same factors for everyone’s risk are often the triggers that cause gene expression
- Smoking: There is a high correlation of this with cardiovasculary disease because of the free radical damage and inflammation in your blood.
- Obesity: Toxins are stored in fat and toxins have a cumulative effect.
- Diabetes 2: Two thirds of diabetics will die of heart disease. This is reported by both the American Diabetes Association and the U.S. Heart Disease Association.
- Excess homocysteine: Homocysteine is a necessary amino acid but excessive amounts cause brain disease and cardiovascular disease. It is toxic (in excess amounts) to the brain and highly inflammatory to your blood.
- Low testosterone hormone: Good studies link increased coronary heart disease with low levels of testosterone.
- Low estrogen hormone: This is correlated with fat accumulation and subsequent storage of toxins.
- Low growth hormone: This accelerates aging and increases most degenerative diseases
- High triglycerides: These are usually caused by too much sugar and too much animal fat.
- Nutritional deficiencies Certain vitamins, especially C, D, and E are important in a healthy cardiovascular system.
Good diet that emphasizes fresh, raw vegetables, whole grains, minimal red meats, with low sugar and sodium consumption cancel out many of these risks. Additionally CoQ-10 co-enzyme is extremely important to energy and cardiovascular health. Cholesterol lowering drugs reduce it as does age. Other supplements suchas D-ribose and Acetyl-L-Carnitine are valuable in reducing coronary heart disease.
I have written books on “coronary heart disease” and “reversing diabetes” . They can be found on Amazon.com at the Kindle Store.
